Omdat Schiedam expert is in LEEGTE organiseerde AtelierRuimDenkers het festival Feest der leegstand.Ik was als kunstenaar gevraagd om mijn blik op leegte te delen met het publiek. Resultaat was een tour door het Westmolenkwartier. een plek in centrum Schiedam waar al jaren "niks" mee gebeurt, een Gat in de stad.

Mijn vragen: Wat is leegte, wat gaat eraan vooraf, wat doet het met een stad, bewoner en bezoeker?Met een "inzoemkap" turen we naar zijn geschiedenis in de gluurschuur,verdiepen we ons in oude kranten en mijmeren in de hangmat, samen met kunstenaar en buurtgenoten en zoeken we naar jouw invulling voor het woord LEEG

Because Schiedam is an expert in emptiness, AtelierRuimDenkers organised the festival Celebration of emptiness.

I was asked to share my way of looking with the audience. The result was a tour through the Westmolenquarter. A place in city centre where "nothing" happened, "a Hole in town".

I gave the public a fade-inn hat. The world became small, filled with details. Next stop people could peek into an old house on wheels. Old maps of this little aria from 1500-now hang inside, showing many forms and changes. Old newsletters from around 1900 took the people over the streets where once all the factories and school from the newsletters stood, but which are all torn down now. The next stop on an abandoned green aria, public could lay down in a hammock and think along with the stories of an artist and some neighbours about the influence of an abandoned place, about new possibilities and unwelcome people. The many different synonyms of empty took the public to the last stop. A high chair where you can overlook the place think of all the stories and at the end write down your own definition of empty on a yellow flag and connect it to the string.

Thanks to the audience we now have a party garland with a lot of emptiness
